Chlorine removal is mandatory with most all reverse osmosis membranes. This can be achieved with a carbon filter which also reduces organic compounds but carbon beds can biofoul leading to membrane fouling over time. 

AntiChlor is the preferred method for removing chlorine on commercial reverse osmosis systems. When we build commercial RO systems we often integrate two feed pumps that run when the system operates; 
AntiChlor to remove chlorine and Vitec anti-scalant to reduce membrane fouling. 

AntiChlor-427 is a modified, odorless liquid sodium bisulfite formulation used to remove free and combined chlorine from reverse osmosis (RO) feedwaters. This food-grade chemical is stabilized to prevent off-gassing, making it ideal for indoor installations. 

Antichlor-427 removes chlorine more effectively than activated carbon and eliminates many of the issues associated with carbon beds, including bacterial growth and carbon fines in downstream feedwaters.
